There I was, trying to do it all--like most moms do, when the light was coming in perfectly on my baby who was now covered in chili. I had to stop trying to give my husband the perfect fade, get my camera settings dialed in fast, and start shooting my ever-moving 1 year old. Finally, on the last shot, she paused from her wild state of throwing chili everywhere to look at something outside. Snap! This was the result. I love this picture of my daughter. Her crazy hair and dirty face is everything great about childhood. This age isn't about being clean and wearing the prettiest clothing--its about getting messy and learning about the world around you. That is what I am reminded of when I look at this picture; let her be wild, let her be crazy and goofy and fun, let her get messy and make mistakes, let her learn who she is and who she wants to become. That's a good reminder for the rest of us too, I think. Don't take yourself so seriously! Life is about constantly learning and creating, so create a good life.
